White Orchid Shillong – A Review

I am someone who always likes to stay far from the cacophony of the place wherever I visit so when I decided to visit Shillong, it was no different.

I wanted a quiet and simple place and something slightly away from the heart of the city and closer to nature. That’s when I came across the quiet little gem of a guest-house called The White Orchid.

Located near the Malki point, the property is owned by a Sikh family and is maintained by very courteous staff. Chetan, the manager is ever-helpful about anything and everything.

Keep in mind, this is not a conventional ‘hotel’ but a beautiful house converted into a clean and well-maintained guest-house and hence, it has very limited number of rooms. 2 deluxe and 3 standards to be specific (if I remember correctly).

The good things about this place (apart from what I have already mentioned) are the fact that, its just a small taxi ride away or 10 mins walk away from the city-center Police Bazar and the view from the terrace is beautiful.

The not so good thing about this place is the limited food options they have on their menu. Plus, you have to place your order well in advance if you plan to have your food from there.

I always prefer to have mine at the Kimfa restaurant which serves awesome Chinese food.

I love the place (minus the food options) hand have already stayed there more than once and look forward to staying there in future as well.

    1. Food was not really economical but if you feel really lazy walking half a kilometer to the Kimfa restaurant nearby then it was a fine option.
