Hampta Pass Trek

After completing the hampta pass trip blog I realized that the posts related to the trek are not in sequence. In between, I have related about my other travel as experience as well, like the post I wrote about my first trip to the Himalayas or, the one I wrote when I decided to go on my first solo trip. This made it pretty irritating for someone who wanted to read the posts related to the Hampta pass trek in a sequential way. So, I decided to put all the links here ordered by day in this post which will make it easier to find the related post.

  1. Hello Rajiv.
    Thank you sharing your experience.
I need to ask you a question.
We are group of 4 guys planning to trek Hampta pass in July. But we would love to trek without any guide or trek groups.
    1. Is it possible to trek without guide? I am pretty confident about trekking. We will be carrying camping gear.
    2. If yes, are there any places for food on the way? Or should we carry our full three days food? (Plus emergency food bar)

If there is any other factor to be kept in mind.

    1. Nothing is ‘impossible’.

Having said that, let me also tell you that the Hampta trail is a mix of marked and unmarked trails. So finding the trail on tricky stretches is not something you would want to do. You have guides for a reason and I would say, if it’s a multi-day trek, you must have a guide with you.

There are more than a couple of places where you will need the help of someone who knows the place.

Not to mention, the nullahs/water-crossings that you will encounter will be raging in July, so a guide for Hampta Pass trek or for any multi-day trek for that matter, is a must according to me.

After all, my whole point of going to a trek is to enjoy being in nature, without any other worry bugging me in my mind. And without a guide, the worry of being on the trail will always run in your mind.

No food is available on the Hampta stretch.

      Cheers,
      Rajiv
