While resting in the Navy Pier entertainment complex, after coming from the wonderful architectural boat tour (Read: Chicago architectural boat tour), I saw many people walking inside the complex in one particular direction. It made me kind of curious seeing people walking somewhere away from the crowded pier and its ticket counters (which I thought was the only attraction there).
I decided to follow them and very soon, came across a beautiful painting made of glass. Colorful and beautifully lit. Bright and lovely.

After the architectural boat tour on last weekend, I had planned to visit the downtown area once again this weekend. The plan this time was to visit the John G. Shedd Aquarium and then, roam around the downtown area for sometime before heading back. To be very honest, I did not think I will enjoy visiting an ‘aquarium’, it sounded quite boring to me but thought of giving it a try anyway.

If I don’t like it, I would leave it early and would explore the downtown area bit more. With this in mind, I caught the 8.30 AM Metra and in about an hour, I was at the Union Station. After a week’s worth of work the weekend was a very welcome break which had to be put to good use which it was. Living in the suburbs has its own charm with not much of a traffic to worry about and a lot of greenery all around, the glimpse of which I had shared in my previous post In an around Chicago but there’s nothing much to ‘do’ in the suburbs apart from lazing around and so, for the weekend, I decided to visit downtown Chicago.

Sometime in the summers of 2013 I had was in Chicago for work. Being the quick and busy trip that it was, I was not at the luxury of seeing and exploring places on this trip. However, I managed to explore whatever little I could, sharing some photos from the same trip here.

I was put-up in the suburbs and hence, was lucky to be saved from the cacophony of the city.
This being my first trip to the US, there were many things that were new to me but one of the most significant of all was, the time when the sun used to go down. Sunset happened pretty late my Indian standards!
