Hampta Pass Trek

After completing the series about our Hampta Pass Trek I realized that the posts related to the trek are not in sequence. In between, I have related about my other travel as experience as well, like the post I wrote about my first trip to the Himalayas or, the one I wrote when I decided to go on my first solo trip. This made it pretty irritating for someone who wanted to read the posts related to the Hampta pass trek in a sequential way. So, I decided to put all the links here ordered by day in this post which will make it easier to find the related post.

Hampta Pass Trek-Day 4, Sia Goru to Chattru

Thanks to yesterday’s steep and rocky descents and the bone-chilling winds, my sprained knee had gone from bad to worse by morning. Ruchi’s was just slightly better. I was not able to join the morning-exercise session and restricted myself to doing flexion which did help but the relief was little more than temporary. The fact that it was all down-hill today, save for a few small ascents, should have made me happy after a full day of steep ascent the previous day but with the knees in bad shape the entire situation was upside down. After-all, it is way more difficult to climb down than to walk up if your knee is not in good shape.

Hampta Pass Trek-Day 1, Jobra to Chikka

By the time we checked-out from our hotel and hurried towards the SBI ATM at Mall road, the meeting point assigned to us, we were already late by more than a couple of hours and almost all other trekkers of our group and another have already left save for four others and us. Soon we were on our way to Jobra taking exciting switchbacks with 39 hairpin bends. With each turn, even though all of them were in shambles, the views seemed to get better and better.

Hampta Pass – A trek to the Himalayas

“Things happen only when they are destined to!”

Nothing could have been more true when it came to my first trek to the Himalayas. It was something I had wanted to do since quite a while but was not able to, something or the other always pushed it back until, the previous week.

The stream the fog and the camps – Chikka

That week, I finally managed to push everything else behind and start for my first trek in the Himalayas. I left finally to trek on Hampta pass on 13th last and returned late last night. Though a small trek when compared to what I intend to do in the coming months, it was a fantastic experience nonetheless.

There’s a lot of work to be done before I actually start sharing my experiences in a meaningful way but let me be honest and tell you that it’s very difficult to wait until I am done with processing the photos and stuff and not write about and share at-least a small glimpse of this wonderful trip until then!… continue reading
