We all know that airports can be an absolute pain and not the most enjoyable places in the world for the common traveler. That is unless you know all the ins and outs of them, which can really help to make your time there much better. I have decided that it is about time that I let you guys know how you can survive any airport. Read on and enjoy.
Getting There
One of the hardest things about airports is the horrible experience of getting there, which we all know can be a little stressful. Something that I like doing is trying out airporthotels.co.uk, because it is an amazing way to technically start your holiday early and to avoid having to go through all the stress of heading to the airport on the day of your flight. I recently treated myself at one of the Manchester Airport hotels and was surprised that I hadn’t done this earlier. It is well worth the extra bit of money and plus, you get a less stressful experience, as well as a slightly extended holiday.
Security
Getting through security is a little bit of an art, but with the right preparation, you can get through very easily. My top tip is to get everything ready in the line, rather than freaking out when you get to the front. This is simply lost time and it makes everyone’s lives easier when you prepare yourself in the queue. I like to put all the things in my pockets into my jacket pockets and put the jacket in my bag. After that I get my laptop out and walk straight through, it is as simple as that. I find that being polite and compliant also makes things run much more smoothly. If you are looking for the quickest moving line, then always pick that one without children, as these generally take the longest to move for obvious reasons.
Waiting
I absolutely hate how boring it can be to be sitting in the airport, but computers, tablets and smartphones make things much easier to deal with. Be sure to make a great Spotify playlist or take the time to watch some things that you have always wanted to see on Netflix. The airport could also be a great opportunity to do some work or get creative. The best thing to do is to use the time productively. Also, if you are on your phone or laptop, you can simply keep an eye on the homepage for the airport, which will be . This means you don’t need to listen for announcements or be near a screen (which are always extremely hard to read).
Pack some food
Airports have a lot of food options, but they are usually extremely expensive and the lines are always long. Therefore I love making things more relaxed by bringing along a nice sandwich or a chocolate bar. Being hungry in the airport is the last thing that you want, so it is important to plan ahead.
