The state of Arunachal Pradesh is home to numerous waterfalls, seasonal and otherwise. Coupled with the charming effects of the monsoons and the breathtakingly beautiful terrain of Arunachal Pradesh, each of these waterfalls are sure to impress you to the maximum. The kid in you is sure to jump with excitement at the sights. One such imposing waterfall is the Nuranang fall, also known as the Jung falls. Just before you reach the small town of Jung, nestled up in the mountains and literally on the highway to Tawang, you cannot miss the 100-feet milky drop that comes gushing down to meet the river below.
Nuranang waterfall, Arunachal Pradesh
While on our way to Tawang, we had visited the Jung waterfall this monsoon. Standing right at the bottom of this grand waterfall and watching it roar down to the valley was unarguably one of the highlights of our trip. Sadly, by the time we reached the falls, the light had almost faded.
We were late by at least half an hour so we had to quickly try and figure out what best we could do. In the end, we were able to manage only a few poor to average photos, five of which, I am sharing here, along with a small video of the Nuranang waterfall.
Nuranang waterfall In All Its Grandeur
Standing on the verandah of the Jung Hydro Power Plant and looking up to the top of the waterfall I could not help but imagine how it would be like to stand here at the height of monsoons. I am sure the sound of the water falling from above would be deafening, not that it was any less when we were there.
The next time I am there, I am going to make sure I reach there well before sunset. Photography apart, I found the place strangely calm even if you ignore the roar of the waterfall. It seemed to be a place where you can sit for hours, lost in the surroundings.
A place so humbling that make you realize how insignificantly small we are in front of the force and enormity of nature.
After spending a good hour or so and when it was almost dark, we resumed our journey to Tawang. I have a lot of stories to write about from our road-trip to Tawang. I hope to write about them soon until then, feel free to read my other stories and experiences from the North East.
Do you want to explore the mountains and waterfalls of Arunachal? My company does North East Explorers does just that, let me know.

Beauty!!!!!……..Great captures of the lovely places…. 🙂
Thank you Madhu 🙂
This is a wonderful waterfall to visit especially when the skies are clear. You get some stunning side views of the waterfall going down Jang valley. The waterfall area has a small viewing area where you can take snaps. Roads are a little bad to reach the place and there are no eateries close by that you can stop at, so make sure you carry your snacks / water with you. Over I had a nice experience, moreover this content enriched my experience way more than before.
It indeed is a beautiful waterfall. Thank you 🙂
